Terms of Service

These terms cover the yiddish.tools website, the Yiddish Tools desktop app, and the models you buy from us. By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to them.

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Who you are contracting with

Yiddish Tools is operated by Hard on Soft Inc. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Hard on Soft Inc., "you" means the person or organization using the service, and "the service" means the yiddish.tools website together with the Yiddish Tools desktop app and the models distributed through it.

Your account
  • You must give accurate account details and keep them up to date.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, and for keeping your password, passkeys and recovery codes safe.
  • An account is for one person or one organization. Do not share sign-in credentials.
  • Tell us at once if you think someone else has access to your account.
What you are buying

Each model in the store is a one-time purchase. Buying it gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use that model on one computer, for as long as you like, including entirely offline.

  • One license activates on one computer. Buy an additional license for each additional machine.
  • If you replace a computer, you can move an existing license to the new machine from your account page.
  • Your purchase includes all updates through and including the next major version of that model. Later major versions are a new purchase.
  • Anything you produce with the tools — your transcripts, translations, text and audio — is yours. We claim no rights over your output.
What you may not do
  • Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, publish or otherwise share the model files or the desktop app.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the models, except where the law expressly allows it.
  • Circumvent licensing, activation or device limits, or use a license on more computers than you paid for.
  • Use the service to break the law, to harass anyone, or to impersonate a real person with synthesized speech without their consent.
  • Attack, overload, scrape at scale, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in the store and are exclusive of any tax that may apply where you live. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc.; by paying you also accept Stripe's terms. We may change prices at any time, but a change never affects a purchase you have already made.

Refunds

Because a model is a digital product delivered immediately, we refund a purchase within 14 days as long as the license has not yet been activated on a computer. If a model does not work as described on a supported system, write to us — we would rather fix it or refund you than leave you with something broken.

Where local consumer law gives you stronger rights than this, those rights apply.

Community dictionary

Entries, corrections and votes you submit to the dictionary are published for everyone. By submitting them you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, adapt and distribute that contribution as part of the dictionary. Only submit material you have the right to share, and do not submit anything that is offensive or that infringes someone else's rights. We may edit or remove any contribution.

Our intellectual property

The desktop app, the models, the website, and the Yiddish Tools name and artwork remain our property. These terms grant you a license to use them, and nothing more.

Availability and support

We aim to keep the website, the store and the download service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue parts of the service. Models you have already downloaded keep working on your computer regardless — that is the point of running them offline. Support is provided by email at hello@yiddish.tools.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is". Speech recognition, translation, vowelization and synthesis are inherently imperfect, and output may contain errors. Do not rely on it alone where an error would be costly — check anything that matters. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Ending the agreement

You may stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we are required to by law. Licenses already installed on your computer are not remotely revoked when your account closes, but you lose access to your account page, to new downloads and to updates.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and we will announce significant changes by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction — except where mandatory consumer law in your country of residence says otherwise.
